CHRONIC LOWER BACK PAIN - 2 Years

“Honestly, I was a bit impatient during weeks 1 and 2 because the relief wasn't instant. But by week 4 of lying on the mat every night, the deep ache in my lower back completely shifted. For the first time in two years, I woke up without that awful morning stiffness. I can finally get out of bed and stretch without wincing. It takes a little consistency, but it actually works.”

The ache that's there when you wake up.

Maybe it is your lower back when you wake up. Your knees on the stairs. A shoulder that tightens after hours at a screen.

You've tried the things that are supposed to help. Physio, massage, chiro, a drawer full of pills. Some of it worked, for a while. Then the ache came back, and the next appointment was two weeks out.

What you want isn't complicated: relief you can get on your own time, at home, every day, without it running your schedule.

What 20 minutes a day can do for you

Wherever it aches, the bag covers it. Front and back, head to toe, in the same session.

Mornings that start easier

Lower back

Mornings that start easier

Light reaches across your whole back at once, right where stiffness settles overnight.

Stairs, walks and gardening

Knees and hips

Stairs, walks and gardening

Lie in the bag and your knees and hips get light from above and below in the same 20 minutes.

Neck and shoulders

Let go of the day at the desk

Tension from screens and long drives sits in the neck and shoulders. The bag covers them while you rest.

A calmer end to the day

A calmer end to the day

Twenty quiet minutes with warm light can become an easy way to wind down before bed.

Tired muscles, looked after

After activity

Tired muscles, looked after

After a workout, a round of golf or a day of yard work, give your body 20 minutes of light before bed.

How red light therapy works

Step 1

Two kinds of light

The bag combines red (660 nm) and near-infrared (850 nm) light in equal parts. Red light is absorbed near the surface. Near-infrared travels deeper into muscle and around the joints.

Step 2

Energy for tired tissue

Both wavelengths are absorbed by the mitochondria, the part of your cells that makes energy. This is the effect studied in thousands of published papers under the name photobiomodulation.

Step 3

Everywhere at once

Most devices treat one spot, and one side, at a time. The bag surrounds you, so your back and front get light in the same 20 minutes, with no turning over and no moving a panel around.

You'll feel a gentle warmth. The near-infrared LEDs are invisible to the eye. That's normal, not a fault.

What to expect, and when

Build a consistent routine with every session.

Was super skeptical about the hype, but the results are real.
I spent two weeks reading research papers and Reddit threads because I was convinced red light therapy was just an expensive internet trend. Decided to give the home trial a shot. My back usually grumbles like an old gate every morning, but after 6 weeks of daily sessions, the stiffness is noticeably down. It's legit.

She can use it when it suits her

I helped my mother with the first setup, but wanted her to be able to use the blanket without depending on me. She's comfortable managing it now and says she feels less stiff after a session. I like that she can choose when to use it rather than waiting for a visit. It has been a more useful gift than something impressive-looking that she'd never feel confident operating.

Sophie T.
Enjoying my walks more

I like long walks, but I don't enjoy spending the rest of the evening feeling stiff. I started using the blanket as part of my recovery afterwards. My legs have been feeling more comfortable, and I'm less hesitant about making plans for the following day. I still judge how much walking to do sensibly. It's just nice when the aftermath doesn't take up as much of my attention.

Something I look forward to after work

I spend most of my working day on my feet. By the time I get home, my legs and lower back are tired and uncomfortable. The blanket gives me a chance to lie down, and I feel less tense after using it. I originally worried it would be another chore to fit in. It's ended up being the part of the evening I make time for.

A
Angela R.
My questions weren't brushed off

I emailed before ordering because I wasn't clear on the difference between the mat and blanket. The reply from Norventi explained the formats and asked how I expected to use it. That helped me choose. I went with the blanket because I wanted to lie down and get settled inside it. Having the differences explained plainly was more useful than being told that everything was a great choice.

S
Sarah F.
The order issue was sorted

There was a mistake with my order and I contacted Norventi as soon as I opened it. They acknowledged it and explained how they would put it right. I received the correct blanket afterwards. Having to deal with a mistake was inconvenient, but the response was straightforward. I've been pleased with the blanket itself since I started using it.

Caleb E.
They replied after the purchase too

I've dealt with companies that answer everything before you buy and become difficult to reach afterwards. I had a question once the blanket arrived, so I was interested to see what happened. The reply was helpful and relevant to what I asked. It made me feel more comfortable about the purchase. I've been enjoying the blanket, but knowing I could still get an answer mattered as well.

P
Peter L.
Less switching between sore spots

My smaller wrap was useful, but I kept moving it from one area to another. I chose the blanket because I wanted more coverage without so much adjusting. That's been the main benefit for me. I can get comfortable and leave things alone for the session.

L
Leah S.
I needed more than a relaxing gadget

At this price, feeling cosy wasn't going to be enough for me. I bought the blanket because my back and hips were uncomfortable most evenings. The sessions were relaxing from the start, but over the following weeks I also began noticing less stiffness when I got up. That made the purchase feel worthwhile. It's something I use regularly now, rather than something I'm still trying to convince myself I needed.

H

Glad I thought about the routine first

I spent as much time thinking about when I'd use the blanket as I did comparing products. Mornings were never going to work for me. After dinner has been manageable, and I've kept it up. My back feels less tight afterwards, and I enjoy the session itself. It's still an expensive purchase, but I'm getting the regular use I hoped for rather than leaving it packed away.

Feels well put together

The finish is neat and the blanket feels substantial. Happy with my first few uses.

O
Owen M.
I was tired of rearranging myself

I already had a panel, so I wasn't questioning whether I liked red light. I was getting tired of changing position to cover different areas. The blanket appealed because I could lie down and get settled. It's a different experience from the panel, and I still use both, but the blanket is the one I reach for when I want a broader session without repeatedly moving everything around.

D
David W.
Needed help with the first setup

I'm not particularly confident with new devices, and the first time I laid everything out I wasn't sure I'd connected it correctly. I asked Norventi and got a clear explanation. After that first setup, it was much easier. I've been using the blanket without help since. I was worried about buying something I'd have to keep asking my daughter to sort out, so that was a relief.

A
Alex C.
The delivery question got answered

I was buying something fairly expensive from a company I hadn't used before, so I wanted to know what was happening when the tracking went quiet. The reply from Norventi explained the situation and gave me a useful update. My blanket arrived in good condition afterwards. The wait was frustrating, but getting a clear answer stopped me wondering whether anyone was actually dealing with my order.

I
Ian C.
Check your space first

The blanket works well where I planned to use it, but I measured before ordering. I also made room to store it properly. Doing that first saved me having to rearrange the room every time I wanted a session.

D
Donna M.
Sharing made the decision easier

My partner and I were both interested, so we decided to buy one blanket between us. We take turns and use it for different reasons. It's been good having something we both get regular use from.

T
Tessa C.
We both get something from it

I wanted the blanket for the way my back feels after work. My wife was interested in using it after exercise. We decided to share one, and that's worked well. We use it at different times and both find it worthwhile. I was concerned we'd spend the money and only one of us would touch it, but it's become something we both make room for in the week.

R
Rachel M.
They dealt with the problem

One part of the blanket wasn't operating normally, so I stopped using it and contacted Norventi. I was annoyed because I had been enjoying it. They reviewed the issue and arranged a replacement for the affected part. Once it arrived, I was able to use the blanket again. I appreciated not having to chase different people or start the conversation from the beginning each time.

B
Ben W.
Lovely after a busy day

I get comfortable, put an audiobook on and use the blanket. My legs feel less tense afterwards.

L
Luke M.
I went into this cautiously

I've tried enough things for my back to be wary of glowing reviews. I didn't expect the blanket to fix everything. What I've noticed is that I feel more comfortable after using it, and the stiffness isn't occupying as much of my evening. I still have good days and bad days. The improvement has been enough that I keep using it without having to persuade myself.

J
Joanne F.
I was unsure about the blanket shape

I like being warm and comfortable, but don't like feeling trapped. That was my hesitation. Once I tried the blanket and found a position that suited me, I was more comfortable than expected. I'd still say to think about whether this format appeals to you before choosing it.

K
Karen B.
Mum actually wanted to keep using it

My mum is polite about gifts, which makes it hard to tell whether she likes them. I worried the blanket would be something she used once because I'd bought it. After we'd gone through the setup together, she started mentioning sessions she'd done on her own. She says she feels less stiff afterwards. Hearing that she was choosing to use it meant more than an enthusiastic reaction on the day.

T
Teresa F.
Small improvements that matter

I bought this because my back and hips were making ordinary evenings uncomfortable. Getting up to make a drink shouldn't feel like an effort. Since using the blanket regularly, I've noticed less stiffness when I start moving again. It's not the sort of thing somebody else would notice by looking at me, but I notice it. That's made me much happier about the purchase than a nice unboxing would have.

M
Michael S.
I'm glad I made room for it

I hesitated because of both the cost and the thought of having another device around the house. What changed my mind was deciding exactly where and when I'd use it. The blanket has fitted that routine well, and my back feels more comfortable after sessions. I wouldn't say everyone needs one. For the way I wanted to use it, I'm pleased I followed through.

M
Monica W.
I wasn't shopping for every possible benefit

The lists of things red light supposedly does can get overwhelming. I bought the blanket for one fairly ordinary reason: I wanted my back to feel less uncomfortable after a working day. That's where I've noticed a difference. I enjoy the quiet time too, but I wouldn't have spent this much just to lie down and listen to music. Feeling less stiff afterwards is what keeps me using it.

D
Diane R.
Very pleased

Comfortable to use and lovely after a long day. I've been reaching for it much more than I expected.

S
Scott P.
No issues with regular use so far

The blanket's durability was something I thought about before ordering. I didn't want to spend this much and end up with something temperamental. I've been using it regularly and following the storage instructions. Everything has operated normally so far. That's not a promise about how long it will last, but I'm pleased that using it has been uneventful rather than a series of little things to troubleshoot.

V
Vanessa L.
Better than I expected, gradually

I was cautious because I'd bought other things for my back and ended up disappointed. I enjoyed the blanket straight away, but waited to decide whether it was actually useful to me. Over several weeks I started noticing more comfortable evenings and less stiffness getting moving again. I still have difficult days. I just don't feel that the only good thing about the blanket is how it feels while I'm in it.

M
Maya S.
Think about where you'll keep it

I'm pleased with the blanket, but it's more of a device than an ordinary bed blanket. I wouldn't want to carry it between rooms every time. Giving it a sensible place has made it much easier to use regularly.

P
Paula B.
I prefer being able to lie down

A panel might suit somebody else better. For me, after a long day, lying down in the blanket is the more appealing option. That preference has made me much more consistent with using it.

Three questions to ask before you buy any red light therapy bag

Most bags use the same red and near-infrared light, so the product name won't tell you much. These three questions will. Here's how we answer them.

LED count

How many LEDs, really?

Each LED holds several small chips. Some brands count the chips and advertise the bigger number. Ask for the real LED count. More LEDs, packed closer together, means more even light with fewer gaps.

Our answer3,600 LEDs on Wide and 2,352 on Standard, across the top and bottom layers. That's about 120 in every 30 × 30 cm patch, compared with about 80 on a typical mat.

Light output

How much light actually reaches you?

This is called irradiance. Two bags can look identical and put out very different amounts of light. If a brand can't give you a measured number, you're taking their word for it.

Our answerMeasured irradiance: 130 mW/cm², measured at the mat's surface.

Support

Who answers when something breaks?

We read hundreds of red light reviews before choosing our mat. The biggest complaint in the bad ones wasn't the light. It was a device that stopped working and a company that went quiet.

Our answerA 2-year warranty, 60-day returns, and a Canadian team on WhatsApp and email. We reply within one business day, Mon–Fri, 8am–4pm MT.

Norventi answers all three.

What clinicians and researchers say

Red and near-infrared light therapy, known in research as photobiomodulation, has been studied for decades. Here is what some of the people behind that research have said.

Does it actually work for pain?

“It is effective against non-specific pain arising from the muscles and the joints.”

The people quoted here speak about red and near-infrared light therapy in general. They are not affiliated with Norventi and have not endorsed this product. Results with any home device vary.

Your first two weeks

Exactly how to start, so you're not guessing. One 20-minute session a day, and you build up the power level as your body gets used to it.

Days 1–3
20 min · P1–P2

Start low and get used to the warmth.

Days 4–14
20 min · P2–P3

Morning to loosen up, or evening to wind down. Pick a time you can keep.

From week 3

Use the power level that feels comfortable. More isn't better: one session a day is enough.

Which mode?

ALL (red and near-infrared together) is our default for everyday use. The pulse (10 Hz / 40 Hz) and breathe modes are optional. Try them once you're settled into a routine.

Stay comfortable

Stop if anything feels too hot, and don't stare directly into the LEDs.

One purchase instead of booking sessions

Red light therapy clinics in Canada typically charge $25 to $50 per session. Here's how that adds up against a mat you own.

One clinic session $25–$50 Plus booking, driving and waiting, every time.
60 clinic sessions $1,500–$3,000 The same daily routine as your first 60 days at home.

The bag costs about the same as 30 to 60 clinic sessions. After that, every session is at home, on your schedule.

Clinic prices are typical Canadian per-session rates for red light therapy. Clinic devices vary in size and power.

Questions

Will it work for me?

Red light therapy isn't magic, and results build over weeks, not days. Most of our testers noticed a difference between weeks 3 and 6 of daily use. That's why you have 60 days to try it at home.

Is it safe to use every day?

Yes, when used as directed: one 20-minute session a day. Start on a low power level (P1–P2) and turn it up over your first two weeks. Stop if anything feels too hot.

Who shouldn't use it?

Don't use it if you are pregnant, have photosensitive epilepsy, or have active cancer or a tumour in the area being treated. Talk to your doctor first if you take medication that increases light sensitivity, have reduced sensation to heat, have an eye condition, a medical implant, or a condition you're unsure about. Children should only use it with adult supervision.

Does it get hot?

It gives off a gentle warmth, and it feels warmer than a mat because you're enclosed. If it ever feels too warm, open the top layer, lower the power level or end the session.

Some LEDs don't seem to turn on. Is it broken?

Almost certainly not. Near-infrared light (850 nm) is invisible or only faintly visible to the human eye, so only the red LEDs glow brightly. Switch to red-only mode to see them clearly, then back to ALL.

Do I need to use it on bare skin?

For the best results, yes. Clothing blocks much of the light, so lie in the bag with the areas you want to treat uncovered.

What if I fall asleep in it?

The built-in timers switch the bag off at the end of your session, so it won't keep running. Set them to 20 minutes before you start.

Standard or Wide?

Wide (90 cm) gives you room to move and covers your arms, with 3,600 LEDs. Standard (60 cm) is lighter, easier to store and has 2,352 LEDs, with a head opening in the top layer.

Mat or Bag?

The Bag gives you light from above and below at the same time, with no turning over. The Mat gives you light from below, with a higher share of near-infrared, the light that reaches deeper into muscle and joints. If you want both sides in one session, choose the Bag. If you mainly want deeper light on your back, the Mat is a strong choice.

Is it certified?

Yes. The bag is tested to CE, FCC and RoHS safety and electrical standards. Full test reports are available on request.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery takes 8–11 business days: 1 business day to process your order, then 7–10 business days in transit. Shipping is free and tracked, and there are no duties or import fees to pay at your door.

Who pays for return shipping?

If you return it between day 45 and day 60, we send you a prepaid, insured label at no cost. If you return it in the first 44 days, we still send a prepaid, insured label and deduct $100 for return shipping from your refund. Damaged or faulty items are always on us. Returns go to our return centre in  Calgary, AB.

What happens if it stops working?

Message us on WhatsApp or email us. Our Canadian team replies within 1 business day, Mon–Fri, 8am–4pm MT. If your bag stops working from normal use within 2 years, we replace it.

How do I clean and store it?

Unplug it, then wipe the surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never submerge it or get the controllers wet. Fold it into its storage bag and keep it somewhere cool and dry.

Still have a question? Message us or email support@norventi.com
